Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What safety standard are GO-OFF helmets certified to?
GO-OFF helmets are certified to NTA 8776 and EN 1078 the European standard specifically designed for higher-speed cycling, including e-bikes and speed pedelecs.
Are GO-OFF helmets suitable for e-bikes and speed pedelecs?
Yes. GO-OFF helmets are designed with e-bike and speed pedelec riders in mind, offering enhanced protection and visibility compared to standard bicycle helmets.
What does NTA 8776 certification mean for riders?
NTA 8776 certification means the helmet has been tested for higher impact speeds and greater coverage, reflecting the real-world risks of faster urban riding.
How does GO-OFF improve rider visibility in traffic?
GO-OFF helmets focus on 360° visibility, using high-visibility colours and reflective elements positioned where drivers naturally look.
Are lights built into the helmet, or can they be added?
Some models include integrated visibility features. For others, compatibility with additional lighting depends on the specific model.
What sizes do GO-OFF helmets come in?
GO-OFF helmets are available in multiple sizes to suit a wide range of head shapes and rider needs.
How do I measure my head for size?
Bicycle helmet and scooter helmet sizes are shown in centimeters. It also doesn't matter whether the speed pedelec helmet is for women or men. Standard sizes range from 50 to 64 centimeters. A helmet should fit snugly and without any slack, so ordering the correct size is important.
Not everyone has a measuring tape at home. Tape measures are often used in tailoring. An alternative is to use a rope, ribbon, or cord and stretch it around the head at the same point. With your thumb, hold the point where the rope was "round" and meets the other end. Then measure the distance from the rope to this point. This can be done with a tape measure or ruler. And that's how you get the centimeters for the scooter helmet.
Sizes vary by size, from 3 to 5 centimeters. Some helmets allow for more space. Also consider the head shape. For example, the SKATE model is rounder, while the PILOT model is relatively more oval.
Can I wear the helmet comfortably with glasses?
Yes. GO-OFF helmets are designed to be compatible with prescription glasses and sunglasses.
Best helmet for e-bikes and mopeds
GO-OFF helmets are specially designed according to NTA 8776 guidelines. Like NTA helmets, our CE-certified helmets have a lower profile to protect the sides and back of the head. This combines CE and NTA 8776 certification with lightweight materials and a comfortable fit.
If you're looking for a helmet for your e-bike, you can choose from NTA and CE-certified helmets. For a moped or speed pedelec, it must be NTA.
Is a helmet mandatory on a speed pedelec?
Yes, in the Netherlands, an NTA 8776 helmet is mandatory for speed pedelecs. GO-OFF helmets meet this standard and are approved for use on public roads. In other countries, such as Belgium, an NTA 8776 helmet is strongly recommended if you travel at speeds of 25 km/h or faster.
Wearing glasses in combination with the visors of the GO-OFF helmets?
All GO-OFF bicycle helmets with visors are designed for glasses wearers. The visors are magnetic and adjustable with the headband. The headband can be adjusted internally. Pushing the headband deeper into the helmet tilts the helmet back more exaggeratedly, moving the visor further away from your face. Because you put the helmet on first and then position the visor in front of your eyes and glasses, you get an optimal fit.
How long should I use my GO-OFF helmet before replacing it?
Like all helmets, it should be replaced after a significant impact or every 3–5 years, depending on use and condition.
